Don't Just Listen to the Sermon. . . Engage With It!

Most weeks you only engage with our pastor's sermon in Sunday worship. After you leave, you might chew on it for a little while, but then it can be easy to leave it behind.

What if there were ways to connect with our weekly messages on a deeper level? Good news: there are!

Here are a few new ways that you can use to connect with the sermon a little deeper each week:

  • Read the Passage Before Sunday - Use the Friday Facebook post on the Westwood page, or the Thursday Service Guide email, to look up that Sunday's sermon Scripture and read ahead to begin thinking about it and let the Spirit begin to percolate the message in your mind!

  • Listen to the Sermon - This is the easiest way to get the sermon on your mind: show up for worship and listen to it! If you miss it, not a problem! Just download the Westwood Cary app on your phone, visit our website, check the Pastor's Monday posts on the Westwood Facebook page, or check the weekly e-news for video, audio, and written copies of the sermon!

  • Take Notes in the App - Beginning Sunday, April 6, you'll be able to take fill-in notes using the Westwood app that corresponds with the sermons each week. Once you're done, you can email the completed notes to yourself and revisit them anytime you'd like a refresher! Prefer to take notes without a guide? You can already do that by opening the Westwood app and clicking your profile image in the top right of the screen. Then click 'notes.' Those notes are saved each week!

  • Read the Sermon Bites - Now you can engage with the sermon every day of the week! Visit the app (or check the weekly e-news) for the weekly 'Sermon Bites' which are quick devotionals built off of the sermon from the previous week. You can also access them each week here: www.westwoodcary.org/sermonbites.

  • Email the Pastor - If you ever have a question or thought about the text, sermon, or more, you can email the pastor! 

We hope that these old and new offerings give you the ability to engage with the Scripture, themes, and messages on a deeper level!
