Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.' (Matthew 16:24)

Becoming a Christian and following Jesus is a journey, not a single destination. At its heart, it is about moving from simply knowing about God to experiencing a personal relationship with him, one that reshapes how we view the world, our neighbors, and ourselves.

Here is a look at what this path looks like in practice...

What does it mean to become a Christian?

Becoming a Christian is, first and foremost, an invitation. It is the decision to accept that you were created with purpose and that you are deeply loved by God.

In a world that often measures us by our achievements, failures, or status, the Christian message offers something different: grace. It’s the realization that you don’t have to "earn" your way into God’s favor. Instead, through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, the door to a relationship with the Creator is wide open. Accepting this is a shift in perspective, a decision to trust that Jesus is who he said he was and to let his teachings guide your life.

You can make this decision to follow Jesus by simply praying and telling Jesus you want to follow him. Ask him to guide your steps and help you move toward his grace and his call to live differently in the world.

BUT, following Jesus is more than just a prayer or decision; it's a life-long journey of growth and discovery...

What Does it Mean to Follow Jesus?

Following Jesus isn't about being perfect; it’s about being present with Him. When Jesus called his first followers, he didn’t ask them to be experts in theology or to have their lives perfectly put together. He simply said, "Follow me."

To follow Jesus is to adopt his rhythm of life:
  • Leading with Love: Seeking to treat others with the same radical compassion, forgiveness, and kindness that he modeled.
  • Living with Humility: Recognizing that we are all works in progress and that we are better together than we are alone.
  • Seeking Justice and Mercy: Being a voice for those who are overlooked and acting with integrity in our local communities.

It’s an active, daily choice to align your thoughts, actions, and character with his. This is not a one-day thing; it requires a journey of discipleship...

Growing in Discipleship

Discipleship is simply the word we use for "the process of growing." If following Jesus is the start of the journey, discipleship is the walk. It isn’t about checking boxes; it’s about transformation.

We believe that growth happens best in community. You don't have to walk this path in isolation. Discipleship flourishes when we:
  • Engage with Scripture: Exploring the ancient wisdom of the Bible not just for information, but for guidance in modern life.
  • Practice Prayer: Learning to be still, to listen, and to bring our honest selves to God.
  • Serve Others: Discovering that when we give our time and energy to help others, we often find ourselves growing in the process.
  • Walk Together: Surrounding ourselves with people who encourage us, challenge us, and support us when the road gets difficult.

Are you curious about what this looks like for you? Whether you have questions, are exploring faith for the first time, or are looking to deepen your existing connection to God, you are welcome here. We’d love to have a conversation, hear your story, and walk alongside you as you discover what it means to follow Jesus in your own way.
