What We Believe

Our Motto:

Joining God in His Work.

Our Vision:

Westwood Baptist Church strives to be a loving, accepting, affirming, and diverse fellowship of believers leading others to Christ through worship, discipleship, missions, and ministries.

Our Mission:

A community of believers worshiping God, making disciples and sharing Christ’s love.

Our Purpose:

This church is organized to worship God as revealed in Jesus Christ, to teach the Bible and its meaning, to train in living its message, to witness to God’s love at home and around the world, to strive toward the highest standards of Christian living and stewardship, to be a family of believers, devoted to each other in love and service, and to be in prayerful search for those God given gifts and talents which each member possesses and the dedication of those gifts and talents to the fulfillment of the mission of the church as led by the Holy Spirit.

Our Affirmation of Faith:

We believe in one God, known to us as Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer.

We believe that God was incarnate in Jesus Christ and is reconciling the world through Him.

We believe that God’s Spirit guides and empowers our lives. We believe the Bible is the inspired record of God’s love for mankind and is our guide for salvation and life.

We believe that we were created in God’s image.

We believe the church is the body of Christ, one universal fellowship, with many local expressions.

We believe one’s salvation is through Jesus Christ.

We believe that the church is commissioned by God to witness to the love of God, through Christ, throughout the world.

We believe in the Baptist distinctives of the priesthood of all believers, the autonomy of the local church, voluntary mission partnership, and religious liberty for all.

Our Covenant As A Church:

Confessing our faith in Jesus Christ, we covenant with God and one another to live together as members of Westwood Baptist Church in obedience to God’s will.

Ever mindful of the welfare of this congregation as part of the whole company of Christ throughout the world, we promise to express our faithfulness to Christ in love to one another, to care for each other in joys and sorrows, and to sustain each other through prayer and deeds of kindness.

The spirit of God assisting us, we further promise, insofar as we are able, to attend the services of this congregation, observe its ordinances, share in its work, support its mission to all people, those near at hand and those in distant lands, and endeavor in all aspects of life to be a fruitful body of Christians.

We agree to cooperate with other Christian groups, to keep an openness to truth revealed in Jesus Christ and to adapt our forms of ministry to meet the needs of our time.

We further agree to worship God in our home life, to nurture our children in the faith and to lead them to personal commitment through Jesus Christ.

As individuals, we promise to be Christians wherever we are and actively participate in public worship, private devotion, and discipleship training.

We agree that when we can no longer maintain the spirit of this covenant or when we have moved from this area, we will, as soon as possible, unite with another church.
